STFU, Sexists.: I hate "lol r u on ur period" comments so much.

This hilarious segment on the Daily Show got me thinking about how much I truly hate the myth of the hysterical menstruating monster.

If you are a woman on the internet, you will get asked that basically any time that it is obvious that you a) are a woman and b) have a strong opinion about something. Not only is it absurdly annoying and dismissive of women being passionate or opinionated, I find it to be yet another failure of sexual health education in this country. How is it that in 2012 we are still turning out adults that think this is ACTUALLY what happens during menstruation?

Hey chuckleheads, yeah, I AM on my period. And I just worked 14 hour days (after 6 hours working on my feet each day) to relaunch a news website, edited/wrote/published a shit ton of articles, and did it all on ten hours of sleep…since Saturday.

Oh my God, one of my favorite blogs is a Homestuck. Today is a good day.

Also, I absolutely agree on all of this. I was just talking about this the other day, actually…I just love the fact that women aren’t allowed to express themselves lest they’re either being ~too emotional~ or they’re ~PMSing~.

Ugh.
