Is there any question that a Romney presidency would be a disaster?

I mean truly, honestly. Now that Rick Santorum has been out of the running for the better part of 2012 and Romney has picked a hardcore pro-lifer, can we everyone pretending that Romney is some kind of moderate?

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but let me just list why a Romney presidency scares me so much:

• Romney has shown that he will say and do anything to get power. For Republicans right now, that means catering to the Teabaggers, and Paul Ryan is the cherry on that disaster sundae.
• The Tea Party is gunning for the Senate. What if it works AND Romney wins? Who is going to protect the middle class, women, and people of color, Justice Scalia? Yeah effing right.
• Women voters are the fastest growing voter bloc in this country,and Romney STILL picked a rabidly anti-choice running mate. That’s how little he cares about reproductive health and gender equality.
• No one can afford what a Romney/Ryan administration would do to the economy, but least of all women. Women of all races have rebounded far slower than white men in this recession, and it’s just going to get worse. They’ll rule back health care reform. They’ll dismantle WIC and food stamps. They’ll get rid of the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. They might even attack the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts. How do I know this? Because they’ve said so.
• These are just reasons that are on topic for my blog about sexism. This is ONE umbrella issue on which Romney terrifies me. I could go on indefinitely about how and why this would be such a disaster on about a million other issues too. 

I know that right now Romney is losing in the polls, but we’re still three months out. He may seem like a harmless, out of touch punching bag whose gaffes are hilariously misguided, but if he wins this thing, he is far, far from harmless. And he is outraising and outspending Obama hand over fist - it is far from in the bag. 

The more I hear about this election, the more depressed I get. Doesn’t help I live in a red state.
