Before I begin, I want to make this point very clear: this post will have severely upsetting discussions of statutory rape. Multiple people have already been triggered due to this situation. There are tons of rape-apologia, victim-blaming, slut-shaming and hugely damaging, rapist-protecting attitudes and comments in this post. Please be aware of this, and please proceed with caution.

The moral of this story: Some Bronies are rapists, and even the non-rapists will defend rapists to their last breath. In a fandom filled with young, underage girls, this cannot be allowed to go unnoticed.

I hardly ever use tumblr anymore, but this is important as Max is a dear friend to mine and I cannot stand the sheer amount of hatred and bullshit that is being thrown towards him. Obviously people like to hate on others who are too timid to stand up for themselves, or Max’s ex is a complete bitch. I still think both.

So let’s start from the top;

To make a long, and very convoluted story short: Bronies have a troubled history, and one (Max Veers, age 21) has been caught assaulting an underage teenager (age 16; in their home state of California, that is a misdemeanor). He then went around and badmouthed her on his Tumblr, and made it out to be that it was her fault for the rape. His brother and friends joined him in this, telling her that she was worthless, and a whore/slut, and clearly deserved what she got. I will be blanking out her name for as much as I can of this, so please do not harass the victim, even with good intentions.

Assaulting? So having a relationship with someone is assault? Also there is no victim when something was mutually agreed upon. If it was mutual consent to do what they did, then please define the victim. And before you immediately say the woman, you should stow away your sexist views where rape only means a man forcing sex upon a woman physically or verbally.

Max Veers (not his real name) is the rapist, and he is a somewhat well-known name in the community; he used to run a fanfiction service, which took many popular Brony fanfictions and put them into e-reader format for ease of use. (Without consent.)


So you put in “(Without consent.)” to show that the favour he did was an sort-of act of rape? How pathetic of you to even try and do so. You don’t go around wailing about how any favour or treat someone does for you was without consent and thus is not wanted. The fan-fic e-reader thing was wanted by the community.


Max was dating the victim some months ago, and during their relationship, coerced her into sexual contact. They then broke up, and some time passed before this blowup. What prompted the attack? Her comment on a piece of his artwork.

‘The victim’ automatically makes Max seem like he is evil and did unwanted harm to her. If it was of mutual consent there is no victim. By the same premise you can argue that both were the victims.

Like I have said many-a-time, it was mutual. She coerced him as much as he did.

And I know Max very well, had she actually been shaking and crying he would have never done anything like that. Max is insanely caring and kind, he will drop everything to help those he loves no matter what. It is blatantly obvious that she is over-exaggerating and stating that she was crying and shaking merely to attract attention to herself. Her hormones are in full swing and she wants to be noticed, this is a teenage girl - not someone who is in the right state of mind all the time.

So you’re saying libido doesn’t stop people from thinking? Stop trying to pretend you’re on some high-horse and get down and face the truth. Libido often blocks clear thought, don’t try and pretend it doesn’t.

You seem to misunderstand the point he was making. He stated that she hid the supposed claims for cease of the actions by means which he could not understand. Ergo; he had no reason to stop as what he saw, and what she appeared to communicate to him was “yes, please continue”. If she truly knew what she wanted, why did she not state it? Maybe it is because she suddenly wants to accuse Max of these things for attention or some other means, and the best way to pretend like she said ‘no’ is that she said it but Max did not receive it.

Even if she somehow meant ‘no’ why did she not convey it to Max while the act happened? You may say ‘because she was scared!’. And then quote the line where she states that she was shaking etc. To which I would like to point out again that Max would never do such a thing, not only that but the shaking would have been an obvious ‘no’ to him. He states that there was no such obvious ‘no’ statement, ergo there could have been no shaking. And thus we have just proved that she is lying simply to gain more attention.

Sure it was a blatant statement if you wrote it on paper. But, in the real world when something is spoken there can often be an underlying meaning. Now this statement of hers is a direct contradiction to what she said before. Before she said that although she never actually said ‘no’, she meant it in her tone/etc. Now she says it in words, but does not mean it in her tone/etc. Now this is very confusing, and you can easily see where Max fell off the rails here. To simplify this I want to use a simple metaphor; A dog cannot understand English, but picks up on commands by tone and understanding key points of what someone is saying. If you scold them, but use nice words they will not notice the difference. ie; saying “you have been a very, very, good boy.” If you use anger in your voice and emphasize  certain words the dog will take the same meaning as if you were really scolding him. But, if you do not emphasize the words properly or use really an angry voice the dog will just be confused. Both situations happened to Max, he misunderstood what she was saying because she failed to clearly convey the message.

His Deviantart is also gone, but there is an interesting fact to be found in the headerof his tumblr. This image is made up of several pieces of art work, including this oneIts description: “[Max Veer’s] OC, ready to RAEP.”



This artwork was created months before they were even in a relationship and was part of a set based off of a “rape” face vector in My Little Pony. I state again, it has nothing to do with this situation - that is merely terrible co-incidence. I have asked Buzzin to delete/change the name of it so that it does not even dare to drag further attention to it for the wrong reasons.

This man has repeatedly applied for (and in some cases, received) staffing positions at Brony conventions, including EquestriaLA (current staffer) and Bronycon (applied for security). Please do not let it be forgotten that he raped an underage girl.

As it stands, he is not currently banned from any conventions. Let’s change that.


Why do you think he applied? Why do you think he poured hours away with fan-fics? Why do you think he spent so long making art and helping others? Do you really think that someone with so much good in his heart can suddenly change? Do you honestly want to blindly believe the story as it is told by his ex-girlfriend? Ignorance is the problem here, people are not willing to fully understand the whole of the situation before making a decision as to what he has done. He did nothing really. Absolutely technically he committed statutory rape, because his girlfriend at that time was a minor, although she gave consent it would still be considered statutory rape. It is however not considered rape, sexual-harassment, assault or commit him to being a scumbag. Statutory rape is a problem when it is actual rape, otherwise when consent is given by both partners it is not as I see it. Sure you can take it to the extreme and say ‘what if the one person is 2 years old!’ or something completely stupid like that. To that I say, she was not 2, she was almost 18. What is it, that when you are 17 years and 364 days you cannot make decisions about your life, but when you age one more day you can? It’s a stupid idea, but it’s probably the best way to implement it as each person is different. She knew what she was getting herself into when she wanted a relationship with an older guy. It wont stay just hugging and kissing forever. And when the barrier for something more is crossed, and both parties give complete consent for it I think that what they both did was perfectly ok. I can almost guarantee you that what she says now is to spite Max and nothing more. Had she actually had a problem with it, do you think the first place she would say it is out in tumblr? No. She would have told her parents. She this to gain attention, nothing more.

Max has disappeared because that’s how he deals with depression. This has happened many times before, and will continue to happen. Max is not perfect, by no means is anyone perfect. He deals with depression by hiding himself away from the world. He is not hiding from anyone.

Please understand the whole situation before you continue to spread ignorance. tumblr is like any gossiping

This is the most bullshit excuse ever. I’ve been horny as all hell, and when I didn’t want something, I knew it right away. And when I told my boyfriend to stop, that I didn’t want something, even if HE was horny as all hell, HE STOPPED. He didn’t try to talk me into it, didn’t coerce me when I was clearly uncomfortable, and didn’t try to justify it (he even apologized later and said he felt terrible for trying to do something I didn’t want). So no, your brain doesn’t magically shut off when you’re turned on, sorry.

Had she actually had a problem with it, do you think the first place she would say it is out in tumblr? No. She would have told her parents. She this to gain attention, nothing more.

And this is WHY she wouldn’t have told anyone. This comment is pretty much a laundry list of everything people commonly tell rape/abuse victims:

1. I know them! They wouldn’t do that!

2. She’s exaggerating.

3. Her hormones/emotions blocked her thinking!

4. She wants attention!

Guess what. Most rapes go unreported because of that. This would have been one of them. She brought it up on tumblr because it was a safe place for her to do so. Many people admit to things like this online first.

Except he did, and he said so himself: “Yes, she decided she was no longer interested in continuing and that she wanted me out and gone and the situation over so that she could leave. However, while she believes she communicated this to me, and I can say in hindsight I received her message, unfortunately the method which she used to deliver the ‘I’m scared, please stop, and let me go’ message was unnecessarily muddled and hidden behind a layer of…I honestly don’t know….That night in the parking lot, she asked me to leave. She DID state it. It was his fault for misinterpreting it, not hers. She did what she was supposed to in that situation, and he was able to recognize that later. Which means it wasn’t unclear, he just chose not to actually listen to it at the time.

Then he should have asked if he didn’t understand. Simple as that. If he’s as CARING and SENSITIVE as you make him out to be and if he had been asking as much as he said he did, he should have known she didn’t want to. Communication is a big part of having sex. What, did she have to turn on the klaxon alarms and start shrieking like all hell for him to get the message? She said stop. He ACKNOWLEDGED she said stop. But he didn’t bother to clarify and made an assumption about what it meant, then placed the blame on her for it. Hell, he even goes on to say that she should have “smacked him in the face with reality when it slipped away from him”.

Basically, he’s saying he has no responsibility for what he did because he ~wasn’t in his right mind~ …except he was apparently clear enough to be loving and sweet and ask over and over if it was okay. Funny how that works. Rape does not work like you think it does. If she didn’t want to at the time, SHE DID NOT WANT TO. She did what she was supposed to do — and he even ACKNOWLEDGES THAT — and it was his fault for not understanding it. Plain and simple.

Ignorance is the problem here, people are not willing to fully understand the whole of the situation before making a decision as to what he has done. 

Irony at its best, really.
